Q. What time of year can you start pouring cement?

A. As long as temperatures are above freezing and the ground is not frozen, we can pour traditional concrete flatwork. Stamped concrete requires slightly warmer temperatures in order to properly pour, finish, and seal your project. Depending on the year, we can usually start pouring cement around late March to early April and we work through late November to early December.

Q. Will I need a permit for my project?

A. A permit may or may not be required for your project. It depends on the city you live in and the type of project we are installing.
There is no need for the client to obtain a permit before work begins. Our experienced installation crew will ensure that all proper permits are acquired beforehand.

Q. What type of concrete will you be using for my project?

A. We use a quality mix  6-bag, 4000 psi, air entrained concrete, with a low water to cement ratio. Air entrained concrete
contains controlled amounts of air in the form of microscopic bubbles which allow for the concrete to expand properly in cold weather. This increases the durability and quality of your concrete project.
Q. Do I have to cut lines through my stamped patio?

A. The cut lines in your finished project are called control joints and are found in almost all stamped concrete projects. The purpose of these cut lines is to allow the concrete to crack in uniform lines without affecting your finished project. We strongly recommend them to avoid random cracking in the future.

Q. Will my concrete crack over time?

A. All concrete cracks, it's just a matter of when. In a large majority of projects, these cracks occur in the strategically placed control joints. However, even properly poured and jointed concrete can crack in places other than the control joints. A vast number of these cracks are simply un-planned joints and are normal. We strive to take every precaution necessary to prevent these cracks from happening.

Q. What kind of maintenance is necessary once my concrete project is finished?

A.
We highly recommend that you water your concrete for the first 5 days after the project is completed. Watering will adequately cure the concrete by allowing it to properly harden and reduces the possibility of cracks appearing in the future. We also recommend resealing your concrete every other year for maximum protection of your investment. Pro Cement makes this easy by offering resealing services with quality commercial grade sealers. All you have to do is call us when your ready to reseal and we take care of the rest.

Q. Can I use salt or deicers on my concrete in the winter?

A. We do not recommend using salt or deicers of any kind on your concrete project. These will chemically corrode the surface of your concrete over time and can cause unsightly imperfections.
